Cruddas Park on Site

January 2009 brought the commencement on site of the works associated with the Cruddas Park redevelopment.

The initial phase of this £70m development encompasses the provision of a pilot scheme and refurbishment of the first 3 social towers blocks.

The pilot scheme entails the provision of a 2 bed duplex apartment and construction of an atrium within the Sycamores tower block. This is being undertaken to demonstrate the standard and quality of accomodation to be provided across the development generally. The pilot scheme also includes for the provision of the roof works for 3No tower blocks associated within phase 1.

After completion of the pilot scheme, phase 1 works commence with the refurbishment of the Sycamores, Larches and Hawthorns tower blocks. These being provided as social housing for Your Homes Newcastle.

The development will run over a number of phases and includes further social housing provision, housing for sale and provision of decked and ground level car parking. Heating to the development is being provided via a Biomass district heating system.
